Borobudur Temple; a descriptive text

Borobudur is Hindu - Budhist temple. It was build in the nineth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.
Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 m high and consist of eight step like stone terrace. The first five terrace are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Budist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular. Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire adifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre at the centre of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and starways. The design of borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe influences temples at Angkor, Cambodia.
Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people.

How to make Indomie Fried Noodles
Materials Needed:
● Two slices of bread
● Something inside (fried-egg, strawberry jam, chocolate sprinkles, a sausage, etc.)

Procedure:
● First, boil two glasses of water in a pan.
● Then, open the package of Indomie fried noodles.
● While waiting for the water to boil, pour the seasoning: chili sauce, soya sauce and oil into a bowl.
● After the water is boiled, drain the noodles.
● Next, throw away the water.
● Then, pour the noodles into the bowl.
● After that, mix the noodles with the seasoning, sauce, and the other ingredients.
● Now, your noodles are ready.

Narrative Text Cinderella


Once upon a time there was an unhappy girls who lived with her father, stepmother, and two stepsisters. She was made to work hard by day and slept on the cold floor near the fire by night and that is how she came to be known as Cinderella. One day an invitation arrived inviting everyone to a grand ball held in honour of the prince. Everyone leaving Cinderella behind, sad and alone.Disuatu ketika ada gadis yang tidak bahagia dia tinggal bersama ayah, ibu tiri, dan dua orang saudara perempuan tiri. Dia dibuat bekerja siang hari dan tidur di lantai yang dingin di dekat perapian di malam hari dan itulah bagaimana dia dikenal sebagai Cinderella. Suatu hari sebuah undangan datang mengundang siapapun untuk pesta dansa yang agung untuk menghormati pangeran. Setiap orang meninggalkan Cinderella yang sedih dan sendirian.

Suddenly a fairy appeared. She dressed Cinderella in beautiful gown, changed a pumpkin into a coach, and mice into horses. So off went Cinderella to the palace. As soon as the prince saw her, he asked her to dance and would dance with no other all night.
Tiba-tiba peri muncul. Dia memakaikan cinderella ke gaun yang cantik, diubahnya labu menjadi kereta dan tikus-tikus menjadi kuda. Lalu Cinderella pergi menuju istana. Segera setelah pangeran melihatnya, dia memintanya untuk berdansa dengannya dan tidak berdansa dengan yang lainnya.



However, at midnight, Cinderella ran from the prince but she lost one of her shoes. The prince searched for the owner of the shoe. Finally he found Cinderella and they lived happily ever after.

Akan tetapi, ditengah malam Cinderella berlari dari pangeran tetapi kehilangan satu dari sepatunya. Pangeran mencari pemilik dari sepatu tersebut. Akhirnya dia menemukan Cinderella dan mereka hidup bahagia selamanya.

Perbedaan antara Analytical dan Hortatory Exposition



ANALYTICAL AND HORTATORY EXPOSITION


Apakah kalian pernah merasa kesulitan membedakan jenis text Exposition? Menurut kalian apa sih perbedaan antara Analytical Exposition dan Hortatory Exposition itu dan apa yang membedakan mereka? Kl begitu, mari kita coba telaah apa saja perbedaan-perbedaan atau bahkan persamaan-persamaan dari jenis-jenis text diatas.
Kita mulai dari pengertian Exposition, what exactly Exposition is?

Exposition adalah text yang bersifat factual yang digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu pendapat yang bersifat pro atau kontra, dimana text tersebut memberikan argument-argument yang kuat yang bertujuan untuk mempengaruhi pembacanya.

Hal ini tercermin pada Social Function dari text Exposition itu sendiri, yaitu:
To persuade the reader or listener.

As we know, seperti yang kita ketahui, bahwa arti kata persuade itu sendiri adalah mengajak. So, ketika kita akan mengajak seseorang untuk mengikuti pendapat kita, we need the strong argument, don’t we?

Sementara itu apa sih yang dimaksud pro atau kontra itu? Apa pro dan kontra itu ada pada satu text?
Of course not, tentu saja tidak, dalam satu badan atau isi text Exposition hanya terdapat satu pendapat yang pro saja beserta alasan apa yang membuat penulis pro dengan pendapat tersebut, atau dalam satu text berisi tentang kontra, dan alasan kenapa penulis kontra dengan issue tersebut.

And then, apa perbedaan dan persamaan dari Analytical dan Hortatory Exposition itu? Check this out!
Perhatikan Schematic Structure dari kedua Exposition dibawah ini:

What do you think, bagaimana? Sudah bisa melihat perbedaan antara kedua Exposition diatas?
Yes, you’re right, betul sekali! Perbedaannya ada pada bagian akhir dari text tersebut.

Analytical dengan Reiteration. Reiteration sendiri berarti kesimpulan dari thesis dan argument yang sudah disajikan diatas. Jadi kata-kata yang bisa kita gunakan untuk mengawali Reiteration part pada text tersebut can be:
  • From the argument above we can conclude that….. ; atau
  • Based on the argument above…..;  atau
  • The conclusion of the argument above is……
  • Etc.

Hortatory dengan Recommendation. You might know what the meaning of Recommendation itself, don’t you?
Recommendation lebih mengacu pada saran yang direkomendasikan dari si penulis Exposition tersebut.
And then, how you usually recommend something to others? Biasanya kita akan menggunakan kata-kata di bawah ini untuk memberikan saran ke orang lain, they can be:
  • You should…., we must……, you should be….., and etc. apabila kita merekomendasikan sesuatu yang diperbolehkan; dan
  • You shouldn’t……, you mustn’t……, we ought not to…., etc. apabila kita merekomendasikan yang tidak diperbolehkan atau tidak disarankan.

Bagaimana? Apakah kalian sudah bisa memahami perbedaan-perbedaan ataupun keasamaan-kesamaan dari text Exposition tersebut? I hope it can give you some clear understanding about that, and don’t forget ….. always keep your spirit. OK!
